The world’s longest ocean-crossing bridge will be fully outfitted with a variety of Sansi’s LED lighting products and controls. The new 50km long Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is set to open in 2017 making it the world’s largest and China’s most expensive bridge to date.
To ensure high quality and performance of the bridge project, a mass of new technologies, materials, craftsmanship and methodologies have been adopted. The selection of road lighting equipment and message display equipment is also a result of repeatedly demonstrations and comparisons.
For the entire length of the bridge, Sansi will be providing all the LED lights for the road, tunnel and outline decoration, as well as the variable message board systems. The respective intelligent control systems for the lighting system and the message system are also provided by Sansi.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge goes across the mouth of the Pearl River and Ling Ding Yang waters. The 50km long bridge will bring challenges to LED technologies as they’ll be confronted with environmental hazards including salt fog corrosion, vibrations, significant temperature drops, and severe weather including typhoons.
Sansi LED road lights for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge adopt ceramic heat sink and cellular convection cooling technology, which have been listed in the 2015 Chinese National Popularization Directory of Key Energy Saving Low-Carbon Technologies (refer to No. 173 in the energy saving part of 2015). Nonferrous metals are used, and an independent pixel-spread cooling structure allows for efficient heat sink and dissipation technologies. The Sansi LED road lights are capable of operating with bridge vibrations, sea-salted foggy environments, pressure, and corrosion and still maintaining a long lasting service life and reliability.
Sansi LED tunnel lights are designed with reflection-illumination technology, which provides a tender and soft light output. This technology was first used in Shanghai Dalian Road Tunnel Lights Reconstruction Project with great success. The project was so successful that soon after, the project was recognized and rated as the standardized demonstration project in LED tunnel lighting by Shanghai Construction and Traffic Committee.
Another one of Sansi’s popular products is the Sansi LED variable message board which has been leading the traffic signal industry for over 20 years. For the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project, the Sansi message board systems will further expand the technical advantages to various new technologies and materials which ensure the reliable operating condition of traffic information distribution and traffic guidance for the full 50km bridge.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a massive project in which Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau have fully cooperated to guarantee its completion. The comprehensive application of LED products and intelligent control systems help demonstrate that Sansi’s LED technologies are fully capable and adaptable to lighting projects and become another standard for the lighting industry. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is expected to be opened in 2017.
